Open day at Ferndown Fire Station
The fire station in Ferndown will be holding an open day this Saturday 23 September from 11am until 4pm.
There will be plenty for visitors to see and do this Saturday 23 September when Ferndown Fire Station opens its doors for an open day.
Demonstrations and activities will take place through the day, starting at 11am and finishing at 4pm.
Mike Parkes, watch manager, said: “We are excited to be holding our station open day at Ferndown again this year. It’s a great chance for us to promote all that we do as on-call firefighters, plus highlight some of the other things that Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service offers to our communities, such as Safe & Well visits. We’ve got a busy day planned, and we hope to welcome lots of people.”
Among the attractions will be a demonstration by the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne, a technical rescue demonstration by firefighters from Poole, and a dramatic display of what happens when a chip pan catches fire.
There will also be children’s activities, operational and vintage fire appliances, refreshments and a stall in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity. Anyone interested in becoming an on-call firefighter can also have a chat with the crew to find out more about what is involved.
