A local man in his 50s was bitten by a dog whilst he was out walking in Stokewood Road at around 6.30pm on Wednesday 23 June.
A woman, who was walking two small black and grey terrier-type dogs, had stopped briefly on the road and the victim walked past at a distance when one of the dogs lunged at him and bit him on the calf.
The victim sustained a puncture wound that required medical treatment.
The female dog owner is described as in her late 50s or early 60s and of large build with shoulder length grey and blonde hair. She walked with an aluminium walking stick.
Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “The victim did not get contact details for the woman and I am now carrying out enquiries to try and identify her.
“I would ask anyone who witnessed what happened or recognises the woman from the description given to please come forward.”
