Here is a snapshot of Dorset Police activity since 4 July until 3pm on 7 July, including some of their appeals.
4 July: Further arrests made in connection with a reported serious assault on 22 June when a man sustained a stab wound following an altercation in St Peter’s Road, Bournemouth. Following enquiries a 25-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested and subsequently charged with wounding with intent. He is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday 25 July 2022. A 21-year-old man from London who was arrested on suspicion of affray has been released and will face no further police action. A 19-year-old local man who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was released under investigation. Following further enquiries, a 27-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and he has been released on police bail. A 23-year-old Bournemouth man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
4 July: a man came forward following an image appeal in relation to two connected alleged assaults in Wimborne on 25 April.
4 July: An appeal was made by Dorset Police for witnesses to come forward after a reported stabbing of a teenage boy on 13 June. A 25-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, while two other men aged 32 and 41 were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. They have all been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
4 July: An 18-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was charged with two counts of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, assaulting an emergency worker and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property. He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 4 July and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday 1 August 2022.
5 July: a CCTV appeal was issued following the theft of a handbag on 16 June and subsequent fraudulent use of a stolen bank card.
5 July Operation Viper: Three arrests were made and suspected drugs worth around £10,000 were seized as part of a crackdown against suspected drug misuse. A 17-year-old boy from Poole was arrested at Winton recreation ground. 15 safe and well cuckooing checks were made on vulnerable people. A car was seized. A 19-year-old Poole man was arrested for failing to surrender to bail, and a 33-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis. The 33-year-old is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on 25 July.
5 July: A next of kin appeal was made to find relatives of David Valentino, aged 50, who died at his home address in Bournemouth on 30 June 2022.
6 July Operation Viper: a man was arrested in London charged with drug supply offences as part of a crackdown on suspected dealers operating in Dorset. The man was alleged to have been supplying class A drugs in the Poole area, targeting vulnerable people.
6 July: An appeal was made for help in finding a missing 46-year-old woman Maria Giles who was last seen on 5 July in Boscombe. On 7 July it was reported that she had been found.
7 July: A 56-year-old man of no fixed abode arrested in connection with the alleged theft of more than £500 worth of razor blades from a Tesco store in Wimborne Road, Kinson in March 2022, has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
7 July: A 33-year-old Weymouth man arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress has been released on police bail as officers carry out further enquiries.
7 July: officers appealed for witnesses or dashcam footage of a road traffic collision on Portland that occurred in the early hours of 6 July. The single vehicle collision involved a silver Ford Fiesta at the Osprey Quay Roundabout on Portland Beach Road. No injuries were reported but damage was caused to fencing and bollards.
7 July: officers appealed for help to locate a missing 16-year-old girl last seen at Higher Clatcombe, Sherborne, at around 3.30am on 7 July.
7 July: a man in his 30s arrested on 5 July has been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving in connection with a fatal collision in Ferndown involving a highways lorry and a 54-year-old male pedestrian. The collision occurred on 5 July in Redwood Drive.
