Members of the public are invited to join Lewis-Manning Hospice Care at 6pm, Saturday 16 October at The Ark in Poole Park to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones.
The event will feature a floating candle display, music from local musicians and a reflective reading.
Vicki Gray, area fundraiser, said: “We envisage ‘Candles on the Lake’ to be a significant event in the local community calendar going forward and to take place every year in the autumn. It will be a memorable and meaningful celebration where families and friends can come together to reflect and remember loved ones, as well as see a beautiful display of lights to represent all of the incredible people in our community.
“This poignant and special event will start with a reflective walk around the boating lake, followed by music from local choirs and a short reading. Lewis-Manning volunteers will then float the candles onto the lake for the magical display of lights.
“The event is free for all to join, so tell your friends, neighbours, colleagues, and family to come along to this wonderful evening.
“You can make an online donation for a candle(s) before the event, alternatively candles will be available on the night. If you would like to add a personal dedication to your candle, facilities to write your own message will be available.
“We are asking people to make a suggested donation of £5 per candle and people can buy as many as they like! If three people donated this amount it could cover the cost of a one-hour telephone call or visit, providing support to a grieving family.”
Donations will be used to fund the hospice’s bereavement and family support, as well as other vital services.
