Already there have been calls from residents in Corfe Mullen for the consultation period to be extended and the plan delayed. The current consultation is due to close on 15 March 2021.
Substantial developments are proposed in Wimborne and Colehill (495 new houses), Corfe Mullen (400 new houses), Upton (92 new houses), Ferndown and West Parley (1,640 new houses) and Lytchett Matravers (350 new houses).
Chairman of the MDNP CLP, Stewart Bullen, said, “Wimborne is already choking with new developments as there is insufficient infrastructure to accommodate this massive rise in the population.”
He urges people to look at the plan and ask themselves:
Where are the new school places?
Where are the medical facilities?
Where are the roads to take all the new traffic?
Where is the parking space in the town and beyond?
Where are the jobs locally?
What about sport and leisure?
Stewart Bullen, added, “The Labour Party encourages everyone to engage in the consultation arrangements on the Local Plan. The proposals would create an overcrowded, under-resourced and bleak environment for living locally. Already, Wimborne has traffic jams several times a day but these proposals would bring the pleasures of living here to a standstill.”
