The rejuvenation plans, which cover the site currently occupied by Bistro on the Beach, aim to provide residents and visitors with a much-improved experience and include luxury, modern beach lodges, a brand-new restaurant, and public facilities.
The plans see the existing building replaced with a brand-new, modern development with smooth flowing architecture, and an expansive glass frontage offering fantastic views of the beach and sea beyond.
The building would house a spacious, contemporary restaurant with external seating, a takeaway kiosk, modern toilets, beach showers, cycle parking and 17 overnight stay lodges, similar to the Bournemouth Beach Lodges at the nearby Manor Steps.
The project is being led by BCP Council. Cabinet member for Tourism, Leisure, and Culture at BCP Council, Cllr Mohan Iyengar, said: “We are keen to share the new design with residents. It delivers a much-improved service in a venue that fits into the natural surround. The current building has reached a poor state and we hope residents will consider the new scheme a worthy replacement. But we’ll take the feedback along with broader comments that will come through on the seafront strategy – and make adjustments where necessary. This is one of several potential ideas for the seafront as we look to safeguard and protect our coastline while developing it in the right way for residents and visitors.”
The proposed design has been reviewed by an independent assessment through a design review panel.
Local residents are invited to attend a public online information session on 9 September from 6.30-7.30pm. To register for the event please contact email@example.com
