Dorset’s childcare stars celebrated at awards ceremony

People dedicated to working with young children in Dorset were recently praised for their commitment at the annual Early Years and Childcare Awards ceremony.
The ceremony, organised by Dorset County Council, celebrated the nurseries, pre-schools and childminders that have received the highest Ofsted grade of ‘Outstanding’ over the last year. There are now 116 outstanding early years settings across Dorset.

Ladbrokes’ robber brandishes baseball bat

A person was caught on CCTV brandishing a baseball bat whilst robbing Ladbrokes at Portman Terrace, Seabourne Road, Bournemouth.
Police believe the offender to be male. He entered the shop wearing a hat or balaclava to hide his face and stole a quantity of cash from the tills, making good his escape on foot. He was last seen running towards Fishermans Walk.

Frozen star at BIC

Tony Award-winning singer/actor Idina Menzel who sang the Oscar winning son Let It Go from Frozen is coming to Bournemouth International Centre on Friday 26 June.
Menzel’s career has traversed stage, film, television, and music. She was most recently heard as Elsa in Disney’s Frozen. After Menzel’s performance of the multi-platinum song Let It Go at the 86th annual Academy Awards, she made history as the first person with both a Billboard Top 10 hit and a Tony Award for acting.
