Family hub to open in Wimborne
Family hubs are to open across the whole of Dorset, with one to be opened in Wimborne in the near future.
The first family hub was opened in Ferndown a few weeks ago and now a second one is to be opened in Wimborne.
The hubs will offer families the chance to access help and support from Dorset Council and from partner services such as NHS health visitors, midwives, early years practitioners, voluntary, community and faith sector partners without needing an appointment or having to travel too far.
Cllr Andrew Parry, Dorset Council’s portfolio holder for Children, Education, Skills and Early Help, said: “We were incredibly pleased to open our first family hub at Ferndown recently. The hub will strengthen the support and services we deliver for children, young people and their families. This is the first of a trailblazing programme of hubs that we will be rolling out across the county which will help to make Dorset the best place to be a child.”
The hubs will not be just in physical locations. Dorset Council is also working on an online presence, known as Our Digital Family Offer, which will mean parents and carers will also be able to get advice and support online at a time that suits them.
family hubs will also open in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area in the future.
