Men jailed for Christchurch murder

Two men have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Rico Dardis last year.

Paul Gerlach, 52 and of no fixed abode, and Louis Borzoni, 50 and from Bournemouth, were found guilty of murder and sentenced on Monday 30 June 2014, at Winchester Crown Court. Gerlach will serve a minimum of 17 years and Borzoni a minimum of 15 years.

Raffle winner delighted with prize

Congratulations to Brian Hosking from Bournemouth who won the mags4dorset raffle at Fete on the Fields. The Mayor of Ferndown drew the winner at the mags4dorset stall. Brian collected his prize of an Asus Memo Pad at the M4D office on 30 June from Louis Pulford. Brian said, “I went to Tesco last week to buy one of these, but they were out of stock.” How lucky was that!

Solar Farm officially opens in the sunshine

A new solar farm was officially opened by the Mayor of Verwood, Cllr Pat Morrow with landowner Andrew Gent and Ben Hill of Homeland Solar Farm on 27 June 2014 at Three Legged Cross. The event also saw the launch of the new community fund and included a free hog roast and free drinks supplied by the Tickled Pig courtesy of Homeland Solar Farm. Guided tours of the farm were given on the night, Verwood Concert Brass provided light entertainment and there was face-painting and bouncy castles for the children.
